所谓活到老，学到老。在2018年，八名居住在圣约翰养老院的年长人士为了筹钱重建家园，自学自编自演了一段视频，呼吁公众积极捐款。

目前位于泼东巴西的养老院面积为1万2300平方米。为了响应政府一对四的容积率，养老院需要凑备1500万元从新规划并建造五层楼高的建筑物。

八位拍摄年长居民介于66岁至94岁，花了将近三个月时间学习用智能手机拍摄影片的技巧。在2018年4月开始制作影片体现出年长者的心声和养老院的归属感。 影片播出后，就在短短的三个月内筹得了15万元。

其中一名剧组人员张联春对早报表示：“我差点就无家可归了，所幸获得养老院的帮忙，所以希望尽自己的一份力协助筹款 。”

养老院总经理吴明和向早报透露： “我们早在2010年就开始通过网络筹款、慈善晚宴等不同管道筹款，八年来已筹得了1000万元。我们每年都会寄出2000封信给善心公众和各机构，这些年也获得不少支持，但仍缺500万元，而两年后就必须支付这笔钱，不知如何是好，希望善心人士能积极捐款。”
