Celebrating Relationships

Today, 14 February, is Valentine's Day. It also happens to be the 15th day of the lunar calendar called 'yuan xiao'.

Valentine's Day is a western celebration on the 14th of February to celebrate love..

'Yuan xiao',on the other hand, is a Chinese celebration that falls on the 15th day of the first lunar month, which marks the last day of the Lunar New Year. Though commonly known as the 'Lantern Festival' in Englih, this is not to be confused with the Mid-Autumn celebration (also known as the Mooncake Festival).

So it is a conincidence that both occasions fall on the same day this year.

I chanced upon this heart-shaped leave while taking a leisurely walk in a park. And I'm fascinated by the wonders of nature. Something so simple and natural can be so beautiful.

As I looked at the heat-shaped leaf, my first thought was, "What is love without relationships?"

Relationships give meaning to life.

And on this special day, let's celebrate the relationships (with family, friends, colleagues etc) in our lives.

Happy Valentine's Day!
