Come To The Park!

Posted by Jonathan Kow on 26-Oct-2020 09:36:13

As we age, we tend to lose physical mobility; and the activities that we once enjoyed while we were younger may now become too tiresome to do. However, that does not mean that the elderly are not able to enjoy the rush of endorphins from physical activities. In fact, there are many enjoyable physical exercises that do not require much exertion. These physical activities are important not only in maintaining our physical health but also stimulate our brain into producing dopamine and serotonin which help to relieve stress. Here are some of the physical activities that I found to be particularly interesting and easy to do for the elderly.

Many parks in Singapore are now equipped with play and exercise areas, both for the young and the old! The elderly exercise corners at parks are brilliant areas to exercise, and are often underused by many; they have various exercise stations to aid you in stretching your limbs in easy and relaxed aerobic movements.

Furthermore, as the exercise stations are specifically catered to the elderly, this is a perfect area for them to gather and interact while exercising (limited to the number according to the current phase Covid-19 preventive measures.).  See you in the park!
