We plan to move into our new Home at 1 Willow Avenue in October 2021. Here, in a 2-part photo series, we show here the old school charm and splendour of 69 Wan Tho Avenue, where we have served many needy elderly since 63 years ago. We will continue to provide for the elderly residents at our new Home after October 2021
The vast land at 69 Wan Tho Avenue, not only accommodates our elderly residents, but also the many plants and trees which the elderly and staff enjoy. Quite often, we had children visiting our residents and also have a crash course on tropical plants and fruits in our back yard.
Part 2:
Our Residents of Nature
With a land area of about 12,000 sqft, greenery is much enjoyed at 69 Wan Tho Avenue. Through the consistent support from the Sennett Estate Neighbourhood Committee, St. John’s Home for Elderly Persons won the Community in Bloom Award in 2014, 2016 and 2018.
Pre-COVID, numerous children came to learn about trees and plants in our backyard.
In our new Home, our elderly residents can continue to embrace the nature with a Roof-Top Garden.
1. Rambutan Tree at the carpark provides shade to the cars.

Our staff uses the sour fruit from the Belimbing Tree in their Achar salad.

6. Our kitchen uses the leaves from the Curry Leave Plant to spice up some of the menus.
